Disposable Virtual Cards
A disposable virtual card is a temporary, non-reloadable virtual card funded with a fixed amount. It is designed primarily for eligible one-time online transactions, giving you greater control over your spending and helping protect your primary card details
What is a Disposable Virtual Card?
A Disposable Virtual Card is a temporary digital payment card that you can use for eligible online purchases.
Unlike a regular/reusable virtual card, a disposable card cannot be topped up or reused once its balance has been fully spent. When you create a disposable card, you fund it with a specific amount from your TransferXO wallet.
You can use the available balance for eligible online transactions until the balance is exhausted. Once the balance reaches zero, the card becomes inactive.
Why should you use a Disposable Card?
- Better Spending Control
Because the card cannot be reloaded, you have control over the amount available for your online purchases.
- Added Protection
A disposable card allows you to make eligible online payments without sharing your regular virtual card details with the merchant.
- Suitable for One-Time Online Purchases
Disposable cards are primarily intended for eligible one-time online transactions, such as individual purchases from merchants that accept card payments.
Important: Merchant Acceptance
While disposable cards can be used for eligible online transactions, acceptance is not guaranteed by every merchant or platform.
A merchant or its payment processor may have specific requirements or may classify a transaction as recurring, subscription-based, or otherwise unsuitable for a disposable card.
This means a disposable card may be declined even when the purchase appears to be a one-time payment.
Acceptance can therefore depend on the merchant, its payment processor, and how the transaction is configured.

Disposable Cards and Subscriptions
Disposable cards are not intended to be relied upon for recurring or subscription-based payments.
Some subscription services or merchants may classify the initial payment as a recurring transaction and may therefore decline a disposable card.
If you need to make recurring payments or pay for a subscription, a regular/reusable virtual card may be more suitable, where supported.
Supported Currencies
You can create and fund disposable virtual cards in the following currencies:
- USD (United States Dollar)
- GBP (British Pound)
- EUR (Euro)
- CAD (Canadian Dollar)
How Currency Funding Works
Direct Funding
If you have a USD, GBP, EUR, or CAD balance in your TransferXO wallet, you can fund your disposable card directly in that currency.
Auto-Conversion
If your available wallet balance is in another supported balance, such as local fiat or cryptocurrency, TransferXO may convert the required amount to your selected card currency before the card is issued.
What Happens When the Balance Is Exhausted?
Once the full balance on your disposable card has been spent, the card becomes inactive and cannot be reloaded.
If you need to make another eligible online purchase, you can create a new disposable card and fund it with a new balance.
